Identify the actual property jurisdiction
A Fort Myers mailing address can be insufficient to identify the approving authority. Give the full address and ask the contractor which municipality or county process applies. Use the Lee County building and permitting resources for properties under Lee County jurisdiction; do not apply its requirements automatically to every nearby community.
Verify the responsible license holder
Use the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s electrical resources and license-search route. Match the responsible person or business and the applicable license rather than relying on an unrelated general-contractor claim. Ask the provider about insurance and the person performing or supervising the work.
Ask the project-specific approval question
Describe repair, replacement, circuit alteration or new equipment accurately. Ask who obtains any required permit, schedules inspection and supplies completion evidence. This guide cannot decide that your project is exempt or replace an authority’s determination.
Preserve documents for future decisions
Keep the written scope, required approvals, inspection results and any product records you receive. They can clarify what was actually changed when a future repair or property transaction raises questions. A website page or phone click is not project approval.
How the decision fits together
- Property
Confirm the address and jurisdiction.
- Professional
Verify the applicable electrical qualifications.
- Project
